Promotion and Tenure Transition Charge
Develop proposals for promotion and tenure review procedures for faculty members in the proposed University College.
-
Consider whether any procedures need to be modified for the “stand-alone” colleges overseen by the new Vice President for Commonwealth Campuses in light of the reorganization.
-
While developing recommendations, carefully consider and reconcile if necessary the following key principles: the desirability of local review by campus peers and colleagues, the desirability of review by faculty from discipline or divisional groups, and the desirability of avoiding extra levels of review for the University College faculty.
-
Ensure that recommendations take full account of fairness issues for provisional faculty members.
-
Engage in the widest possible consultation with affected faculty members and their governance organizations, including meetings with the faculties at Schuylkill and Lehigh Valley and current divisional leaders.
-
Consult with the University administration on any recommendations that would depart from key elements of the reorganization proposal approved by the University Board of Trustees on May 13.
-
Submit the final report of the committee to the Chair of the Senate, the Provost and Executive Vice President, and the Vice President for Commonwealth Campuses with the expectation of review and sponsorship through the Senate Committee on Faculty Affairs as an advisory/consultative report.
